Back to School and more stuff to do

Much to my displeasure, I started back to school on Tuesday.  It was really nice not having to worry about school assignments and getting stuff turned in.  I hate that it took the events of April 27th to get a break but at least they were understanding and gave a 60 day leave of absence without affecting my financial aid.  It appears as though some changes have been made to the curriculum and classroom environment for the better.  It looks like we may not spend as much time writing but I'm not holding my breath.  It looks like we may actually be doing some practical exercises.  If so, that it AWESOME!!!  In previous classes it seemed like all we did was write and it seemed like so much of it was just busy work and didn't really apply to the overall course program  So far, this seems a lot better.

Amanda brought me her computer a few weeks ago and I finally picked it up from Mom's on Thursday.  I managed to get around to opening up Sunday evening.  Good grief!!  I think there is enough dust in that thing to grow a garden.  It is horrible.  I pulled the hard drive out so I can archive off all of the data.  I just have to get my computer upgraded a little so I have room to copy all of her data off.  Seems like a never-ending cycle.  With a little cleaning and maybe a new fan or two, I think it will be fine.  I encourage everyone to BACK UP YOUR DATA.  Save it to CDs or DVDs on a regular basis.  It will save heartache later when, not IF, WHEN, your hard drive crashes.

This weekend is going to be busy.  This weekend is Amateur Radio Field Day. Not only do I enjoy operating, but I also enjoy hanging out with my friends.  Tom Blanton (N5ROC) and I always have sort of an unspoken contest to see who works the most stations.  It gives us something to laugh at as well as rib each other about.  I might as well throw in the towel this year because I'm not going to be able to operate the entire time due to my 20 year class reunion being Saturday.  Wow...  20 years.  Sometimes it doesn't seem like it has been that long.  I am looking forward to seeing some of the people and of course there will be some that I don't remember as well.  I will probably wind up only going to the group get together at Huskey Park.  I'm sure there will be a few people that I will miss by not going to the gathering at The Brick but between Field Day and my guess as to what the environment will be like at The Brick.  Saturday night at The Brick is likely to be loud with the live band and not to mention, I just don't want to drive to Decatur.  Of course, things never go as planned so we'll just see what happens.
